Script & Storyboard
SCENE 1
As part of the normal aging process, our skin loses its fullness and elasticity. We are continually developing products to prevent or delay the aging process and many are embracing alternatives to invasive cosmetic surgery.
SCENE 2
PRP or Platelet-rich plasma therapy harnesses the healing and regenerative ability of one’s own blood to assist in maintaining and rebuilding tissues.
SCENE 3
PRP therapy has been used since the mid 90’s to improve healing of acute injuries, as well as chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis. More recently, PRP has been used cosmetically as an alternative to surgery
SCENE 4
PRP is made by separating our own blood into a red blood cell portion and a platelet rich plasma portion that contains cytokines, white blood cells and growth factors. When this is injected into the skin it stimulates the repair and regeneration of tissue. As PRP is a product formed from our own blood, there is very little chance of a negative reaction.
SCENE 5
Platelets have many functions, including the release of growth factors that assist in the body’s process of growth and self-healing. The three stages of tissue healing--inflammation, regeneration and remodelling—rely on these growth factors.
SCENE 6
These growth factors help cells in the skin called dermal fibroblasts to replicate and increase production of collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are responsible for tissue strength and elasticity.
SCENE 7
PRP also stimulates adipocytes, or fat cells, which are needed to create the look of fullness in the face, which we lose with aging. They can also reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, or smile-lines.
SCENE 8
PRP therapy can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and promote the regeneration of tissues that create a more youthful look in the face.
SCENE 9
PRP is an exciting area in the field of health and regenerative medicine. So if you would like to learn more about it or share your experience, please leave your questions in the comment and our doctor on duty will answer them as soon as possible. We’re releasing a PRP, Stem Cells or health related video every week, so don’t forget to like and subscribe.
