SCENE 1
Hi, my name is Parker and I’m going to talk to you about processes. [1] Processes are the things that I do, like playing sports, [2.2] going to school, [2.3] watching TV and more. [2.5] Some things I do every day. [3] Other things I do less often or only once in a while, like go to the dentist, YUCK! [4] But I like most of the things I do. [5]

SCENE 2
So, here’s what I do daily [1]. I get up in the morning and get dressed. [2] Then I come downstairs and eat my breakfast. [3] Then my Mom takes me to school. [4] After school, I come home and go outside and play for a while. [5] My Mom calls me in and I do my homework [sigh]. [6] Then, I eat dinner and watch some TV and go to bed. [7] Those are nine things that I do, or processes, that make up my day. [P]

SCENE 3

EAT A MEAL [2f]
GO TO SCHOOL [3f]
COME HOME [4f]

DO HOMEWORK [6f]
EAT A MEAL [7f]
WATCH TV [8.1f]

SCENE 4
You will probably have more than nine but I’m just a kid so I don’t have too many. [1] Of course there are things I do weekly and some things that I only do monthly like, visit with my Nana who lives in North Carolina. [2] But I won’t get into those. [3]

SCENE 5
After I made this list, I looked at it and realized that [1.1] “Eat a Meal” for breakfast [1.2] and “Eat a Meal” for dinner [1.3] was probably the same process even though the food was different; [P] so I put those two together [1.4] to end up with 8 processes. [1.5] I showed the list to my Mom and she said “you should add ‘tease your little sister’ to the list, but I didn’t. [2]

SCENE 6
So, what are your business processes? [1] What happens in your department each day? [2] Can you think of all the things that happen? [3]
If you’re having trouble getting started, I have a list of business processes from other departments like yours that you can check out. [4] It's time for school, so I'll see you later.[5]
